Day 42 - Stilbaai

45.9 km done... Totalling 1264 km... The surf was huge as Robert was leaving the Gouritz River mouth on Saturday morning. It was so bad that a ski-boat did not managed to go through it! Once out at sea, Robert met some Afrikaans fishermen who told him...

Day 40 & 41 - Gouritz River Mouth

Robert has been spending the past two days on the beach as the winds were too strong to go back on the sea... On top of being very tired, Robert's spirits have been low as he is still very disappointed about the Sea Bear being broken but he was much better...

Day 39 - Mossel Bay harbour to Gouritz River Mouth

Yesterday, Robert met Joy and Richard who had brought along the new kayak. He first had to bring all his things back to the golf club and that by itself was quite a mission as the walk from the beach was even worse than the one from Smithswinkel Bay......

A broken kayak

This morning I have received an email from Gavin Dunkerley who has met Robert yesterday on the beach in Pinnacle Bay with lots of photos... Thank you so much once again Gavin... For some reason, I cannot upload the photos... As I am busy packing to leave...

A new kayak is on its way!!!

It seems that the trip will go on after all, as a new kayak will be on its way to Mossel Bay very soon... It should reach Robert on Jan 2... So the adventure continues!

Day 33 - 34 - 35 : From Brenton on Sea to Mossel Bay

On Thursday I spoke to a very frustrated Robert... Very strong winds (over 20 knots) were forecasted so Robert decided to stay on the beach... But then he did not think the winds were that strong so wished he had gone... It is Spring tide time! Robert...

Day 32 - Brenton on Sea

40 km West of Port Alfred In ze desert, zere is personne... 58 km done today... There were strong winds but as forecasted yesterday they were the good ones for Robert! Off Roberg, he got spotted by someone (thank you Kira, even if Robert was not in trouble...
