Day 43 - Duivenhoksrivier Mouth
9 hours of paddling... 47.3 km done...
Robert has not reached Witsands as expected as after 9 hours with the winds going against him, he was very tired and arriving just before 7 pm he thought he would arrive in the dark, were he to go further... He is very tired and does not know how he is going to paddle tomorrow... The new kayak does not seem to be as fast as the old one, or it might be that Robert is just not used to it... I think the disappointment and fatigue are also weighing a lot on him...
The new kayak has almost hit the bottom of the sea, Robert made a flip and avoided the rocks that google earth had not warned Robert about.... A very impressive landing indeed...
Robert had to fix the tent in 4 different places and he says that if anything breaks again he will not be able to fix it... Next storm the tent will be finished.
He says tries not to look too much in the water as since Mossel Bay he is in serious great white country...
Robert has a new theory about why the old kayak broke... He had eggs on board and he seems to recall that there is a say about eggs and boats and that the two do not go together... So on the first day with eggs, he damaged the kayak... The next day the kayak got broken... So really it MUST have been the eggs...
