Day 11 - Madakeni Mouth
52.7 km done today!! Fabulous!
Today Robert caught 2 nice bonitos.
When Robert arrived on the beach at the mouth of the river Madakeni, some kids were there and helped him getting the kayak onto the beach. Robert could not speak with them as they could only speak what I would guess was Xhosa. The kids apparently braaid-ed with Robert and really enjoyed the fish.
Robert says they seemed to be so impressed... They must have thought Crocodile Dundee had arrived! They even fell asleep next to him at some point, very cute!
Later on Robert used the head of one of the fish as bait and he caught a 1.5m shark. I could not understand what type (the line on the satellite phone was really bad tonight), not a nasty one apparently. Robert freed it obviously. On top of the 15 ish dolphins spotted today, once again lots of fabulous wildlife to see!
Tonight it was raining very hard on the beach so Robert has taken advantage of it collecting rain water and using it for coffee and food, saving the water that he had filtered from the river yesterday.
On the downside, 2 more tent poles broke last night... Very tricky to use the tent now! We will need to sort something out!
