1600 km solo kayak expedition from Durban to Cape Town
26 novembre 2012

Day 2 on the beach

As planned, Sunday was a day of "rest" on the beach...

Saturday was a very hard paddle.  As Robert arrived on the beach, a father and son were taking a stroll. They came to help him get the very heavy kayak on the beach and left... They came back later and brought him what Robert describes as a feast : A KFC meal!!! So thank you for that very thoughtful gesture.

As the boat was VERY low on the sea and Robert was fearing that it could actually sink, he has made the decision to get rid of some of his equipment...

As you know, there was not exactly anything superfluous in the equipement but Robert decided to sacrifice one of the water bags... He is now left with two of those and the boat is 20 kg lighter... Let's hope it makes a difference for day 3 and the following ones.

Robert is hoping to reach point 11, Umzumbe beach, in the afternoon.

Well done Robert - super impressed with your efforts so far - sounds like you're focused and motivated - we're all really proud of you. Umdumbe beach - is it in the Transkei? If so, its absolutely stunning - been there before - gorgeous. And I'm amazed at the kindness of strangers :)
