1600 km solo kayak expedition from Durban to Cape Town
12 décembre 2012

Day 18 - Port Alfred

59 km done today!

Over 630 km done! More than a third already done!

Slide61

Robert is suffering... He has been stung at least 20 times by blue bottles, he has got bites everywhere... Very unpleasant!!

He caught a very nice little fish for his supper so he decided to keep it on a hook in the water to keep it fresh as he still had to paddle for a while. When he arrived at destination, the little fish had been eaten... Robert was obviously very disappointed.

He is very tired now, the winds are very strong and sand is flying everywhere on the beach...

Today Robert's GPS has died... Not good news at all... Garmin will have to make a plan!

Weather report for the next few days:

South Africa - Port Alfred (GFS 12.12. 00 UTC, NWW3 12.12. 00 UTC)

Hey Rob.....my mom just gave me your link. Seems both of us are doing some sabbatical traveling, yours a little more physical than mine! I saw this pic of the rapala in your leg and had flashbacks about a similar incident last year with the treble going into my thumb still with a thrashing fish on the other hook. ...ouch! Keep it up, must be an awesome experience albeit it tough at times. Craig Kirkland (from PBHS 1989)
